Downlines and Leadcore on Lake Lanier.
Report Date: September 15, 2009
Shane Watson Guide Service Report. The stripers have been on fire both yesterday and today. The boat traffic and the fishing pressure was low both days and the fish responded well. Downlined bluebacks fished 40 to 50 feet deep in main creek channels and just off the main river channel worked well. The leadcore bite the last 2 days has been the best it's been all summer. The fish were bunched up well and were topping out thick at 30 feet below the surface. It was like it should be, you mark the fish and your trolling rods would bend. You could stop and they would eat the downline well without having to do any power reeling or anything else. You were lucky to get your rod in the holder. The fish were relaxed and when you got on them, they would stay around for awhile. It rained hard at times this morning and we only saw a couple of other boats. Capt. Mack's white foil 1 oz jigs with a chartruese trailer out produced all other combinations on the leadcore with this cloudy weather. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing.
